Who We Are...
The Pallasades Shopping Centre provides the first point of entry to the City Centre and is situated above New Street Station and commonly regarded as "the gateway to the city". It opened in 1971 and was formerly known as Birmingham Shopping Centre. It also enjoys a NCP multi-storey car park accessible from Hill Street.
It is currently owned by Birmingham City Council, who purchased it on 30 March 2009 from the Agora Max Shopping Centre Fund, a property fund of Warner Estate. It was sold to Agora Max by the previous owners, The Mall, in October 2005.
The Pallasades is the place in the city if you are on the look-out for great buys and value for money. With an eclectic mix of accessories, gifts, fashion, electrical, sports and beauty stores, you can dress yourself from top to toe, check out the latest computer games and pick up the latest mobile phones.
You'll also find a number of great spots for a tasty snack or hearty lunch, ranging from Pretzels, juices and cookies to coffee, sandwiches, cakes and paninis.
The centre has an average weekly footfall of over 350,000 per week and major names include Claire's, GAME, Holland & Barrett, Poundland, Starbucks, Tesco Express, The Carphone Warehouse, 99p stores and many more. There are a wide range of smaller, specialist shops, exclusive boutiques and a number of well-established eating places.
The main entrance to the Shopping Centre is from New Street up the ramp, further access is available from Stephenson Street and the centre has a connection to the Bullring which is an aerial link connecting the two buildings.
The Pallasades works closely with the local community and supports a number of initiatives running throughout the year including Local Heroes, Baby of the Year, Schools Awards and events covering key calendar dates.
The shopping centre will transform as the rest of the railway station is also rebuilt during the £600 million Gateway Plus project. The redevelopment of The Pallasades is an important element of the Gateway project, recreating the latest in a line of quality retail venues in Birmingham – including a new John Lewis which will represent one of the largest department stores in the city.
The reconfigured Pallasades shopping centre will consist of 400,000 sq ft of high quality retail and leisure space in the heart of Birmingham, including a 250,000 sq ft John Lewis. The centre will remain open for business throughout the construction phase.
