Local Heroes Awards Sponsored by the Pallasades

The Pallasades have sponsored these awards with the Birmingham Mail since 2002 to highlight Local Heroes in and around Birmingham.

This year The Birmingham Mail has teamed up with the Pallasades and Royal Mail to offer you the opportunity to pay tribute to someone you think deserves to be honoured for an award. You can nominate a family member, friend, neighbour, community group or charity. Each month, a panel of judges will select the best, bravest and most deserved winner. The winner will receive £100 and will be invited to a glittering awards ceremony in November in honour of their achievements.

There are 6 different categories of awards:
* Community Award - if you know someone who has really done something to help your local community we want to know about it.
* Bravery Award - Bravery can come in many shapes and sizes. We want to know about people who have had the courage to stand up for what they believe in.
* Good Neighbour Award - Forget neighbours from hell. Has your neighbour done anything exceptional lately?
* Carer of the Year - This special category is for those who take the time to care for others day in day out and who go the extra mile for the people they look after.
* Voluntary fundraiser/ worker of the Year - Running marathins, climbing mountains, baking cakes, do you know someone who has gone above and beyond for their chosen charity?
* Young Citizen of the Year - Do you know a youngster who manages to fit in a good deed or two between homework assignments?

Write in no more than 200 words why you are nominating your Local Hero?

There will also be two special categories for Charity of the Year and Community Group of the Year. Both of these will be selected by our panel of judges.

Jonathan Cheetham, General Manager said, "It is important to us that the community know that they can rely on the Pallasades to provide what it needs, when it needs it. We always look to give our customers great value with our range of shops and stores as well as actively supporting good causes in the community."
