BARCLAYS MONEY SKILLS AWARD
This award is supported by Barclays
This is a new award for 2009 and one which we feel has huge relevance to school children and their families across our region, particularly during the tough financial times that the country is now facing. The Birmingham Mail and Barclays are searching for schools who are developing programmes/activities specifically designed to help children understand the importance of budgeting and managing finances. This may be built in to the curriculum through mathematics or personal, health and social education or it may be a club/extra curricular group run by students that is financially managed by its members.
Barclays are offering cash prizes totalling £2,000 for the schools that can demonstrate new and innovative ways in which they are or plan to help children and or parents to develop their money skills. The winning schools will receive a grant to use to extend or introduce their financial learning in the school under the theme of Barclays Money Skills.
Barclays Money Skills programme helps people to develop their confidence and ability to manage money which includes budgeting, making informed financial choices and knowing where to get help.
